Register name: Boulder companies' recording video surveillance register
Purpose and basis
With video surveillance we ensure a safe environment for customers and staff, protect property, and prevent and investigate crime and vandalism. Recordings may also be used to prepare, present and defend legal claims, such as claims for damages. The basis is the controller's legitimate interest.
The monitored area is the entrance and the indoor premises. Surveillance is indicated by signs on the premises, for example "Recording video surveillance in this area".
Data recorded
The surveillance produces live images and records video, along with the date and time of recording, of people moving in the monitored area. Audio is not recorded.
Retention
Recordings are generally kept for 3 months and then deleted. For a special reason, for example to investigate a crime, recordings may be kept longer. A recording is destroyed once the investigation or legal process has ended.
Access to recordings and disclosure
Access to recordings is limited to the person who handles register matters. Recordings are viewed with the manufacturer's app. Recordings are stored locally on the premises and, where needed, also in the manufacturer's cloud service (TP-Link, Tapo Care). The service provider processes the data on our behalf in accordance with the EU General Data Protection Regulation, including on servers used outside the EU. Data is disclosed to others only to authorities, when required by law, and where needed to an insurance company to investigate a claim.
We protect recordings carefully, and access to them is secured.
Your rights
You have the right to check the data recorded about you and to request its deletion or restriction of processing, and to object to processing. Send requests to the email addresses above. In your request, state the time and place you were recorded so the recording can be found, and verify your identity. Recordings are deleted automatically after the retention period in any case. We cannot delete or release a recording if it is needed to investigate a crime or for another reason permitted by law, or if other people could be identified from it. We may refuse manifestly unfounded or repeated requests.
You can contact the Data Protection Ombudsman (tietosuoja.fi) if you believe your personal data is being processed unlawfully.
